The Excited Ellipsis
By Lela K. B.
You know that feeling you have when you know that you should keep your silence, but you have all sorts of opinions in the form of exclamation points right behind your pursed lips, ready to ram their way out into the conversation at any minute?
No?
Well, I know that feeling. I feel that quite often. Too often, I feel like my opinions would dominate a conversation, or be off-putting to people that I care about. These opinions don't go away after the moment is through, however--my opinions have been formed from a great deal of research and listening to others' opinions, so they are there for good... and I have always wanted to get them out.
While I have used many personal journals in my lifetime, they were more like a daily log than anything else. I could never write huge entries about how exactly I would feel. I tried it once, I think... my hand hurt for days, and the entry was about eight pages (and I mean standard letter-sized pages) long.
I have never been a blogger, but I was required to use blogs in multiple university courses, and I found that it was a much simpler way to get all of my exclamation-point-opinions out into the open. I enjoyed seeing my peers respond to me and offer their own opinions that they may not have ever gotten out themselves (as I have opinions about odd things sometimes).
Thus, at the urging of others and a few years of keeping myself from actually doing it, I decided to create this blog, named after that feeling of tortured, opinionated silence that it is letting me become free of.
Please start by reading the first post, entitled "An Introduction."
I look forward to hearing from you, and welcome.
